Spring Summer Haul (Part Three)

I have a pic somewhere on my phone, which is me surrounded by shopping bags. Quite frankly, that's the story of my life every time a new season rolls around. (I count spring, summer, the monsoon, the October summer, fall and winter into my season category)

Not surprisingly, there's still a lot to show you.

Rose gold hoops:
When I was younger, I was such a silver person. I hated gold. I remember cribbing to the high heavens whenever wedding season rolled around and I was forced to wear gold jewellery to the functions. In the last couple of years I've had a complete change of heart. Gold is now my go-to metal. And rose gold comes in a very close second. I love the pinky, sparkly effect of rose gold with pretty pinks, pastels and floral fabrics. No surprise then that it's my metal choice for summer wear.
Hoop earrings are a spring summer staple. You must have them. Since my rose gold ones from last year were done for, I picked up a couple from Accessorize. These larger ones are just the thing for boho, floaty dresses and tops.
While these smaller ones work perfectly for more structured or formal outfits. Both were in the Rs 400 to Rs 500 price range.
I have seen plenty of hoops and rose gold hoops in every store, but besides Accessorize and Forever New (their earrings cost Rs 1000) none have plain ones. And I feel that these simple ones are classics that you must have in your wardrobe. I know I'll be using these till the colour comes off, or they break (which has, thus far, never happened with any Accessorize piece I own) To me, it's worth the money.

Tank tops/Camisole tops:
Once again, a summer staple. If you're more conservative, you'll need these to layer under those floaty, transparent tops. If you're not, you'll be wearing these with jeans, trousers and shorts. And either which way, they're the best nightshirts when worn with shorts.
I used to be into the Forever 21 ones (They start from Rs 149) but found that their straps tend to stretch out after a couple of washes. The H&M cami tops have slightly thicker straps, which means not only do they conceal bra straps better, they don't really stretch out at all. They're slightly more expensive (Rs 350 onwards) but I bought two last year which haven't faded or stretched at all. In fact, they're still going strong.
If you're feeling a bit more ethical, you can choose ones from their LOGG range. They have most of their eco-friendly pieces here. My only warning is that their white tanks are transparent. But I think that's true of any white tanks from anywhere.

Hand Cream:
Okay, this is not something everyone wants - or even needs - during summer. But if you're as obsessed as me when it comes to your hands, a tube of hand cream is always in your purse. I veer between L'Occitane and The Body Shop. I love the paint tube style of hand creams they sell - it fits perfectly in your bag. I like the scents, and the fact that it absorbs very quickly. The only thing I'm not that hot on is the price. L'Occitane costs upwards of Rs 700 and The Body Shop is usually in the Rs 350 plus price range.
Which is why when I saw this Innisfree one priced at Rs 300, I had to pick it up. It's exactly the same size as its pricier cousins, smells good, and seems to melt into your hands at top speed. I'll give you a full review when I've used it properly. But on first impressions, I have to say, it's as good as the more expensive ones. And, please note, you can buy two of these and still be paying less than you would for one L'Occitane tube. Bargain!

T-Shirts:
What, my dears, is summer without a good tee? It's t-shirt season, and the pickings are extremely good this year. You will only be restrained by budget, and the fact that you can't wear tees to every single occasion that life has to offer. (Although if you ask me, you should be able to!) This one from H&M is my current fave. If you like the red coloured slogans on white tees, Zara also has a good selection.
This basic, almost baseball type tee, was picked up from Forever 21.
I love these stripes on the sleeve. (A btw heads up: if you love the look of that Gucci tee - fashionistas will know what I'm talking about - head to Forever New. They have a grey tee that's practically it.)
If you're into more breathable fabrics, look to stores linen ranges. I picked this up from H&M's LOGG range. And I've seen a few linen pieces in Zara and Vero Moda as well.
This red tee was picked up a few years ago from Aeropostale. But it's got the same cut as the grey one, just with slightly longer sleeves. It's actually the reason I picked up the grey one, cos I've gotten so much use out of this. Honestly, the stores are so stocked with tees this season, you'll have a hard time making a choice.
I also picked up this a few months ago from SheIn, which is such a summery tee.

And that wraps it up for this post. Stay tuned. Part Four of the haul goes up on Monday!

Till next time,
MumbaiGirl
