Since we're on our way to the vacations, I thought I'd give you a little rundown of all the new-in stuff I've bought for this season.
Yup, even the dog's gotten in on the act!!
Sunnies:
They've been covered ad nauseam, so I'll just touch on them here. These cat-eye ones from H&M cost Rs 799, and are new in my wardrobe.
These oversize ones were bought in February with summer in mind. Although they aren't in store any longer, I do think you can get them on the Forever 21 website. And they come in black as well. They're in the Rs 399 to Rs 499 price range.
Shoes:
I've only purchased two pairs for this summer, as all my last summer ones are still in great condition and still in style.
I was dying for a pair of espadrilles, and this pair from Forever New was exactly what I was looking for. They're tomato red, which is great for sunny days. They're lace-ups, which I love. And they were on sale! I got them for Rs 495. Yes, really! They're one of my fave buys of this season.
I got these slides from Zara. I liked the floral pattern - I felt it was quite spring and summery. I do like the fact that they're a darker colour, cos Indian roads are not the cleanest of places. This colour palette forgives a lot of dust and grime.
And this bow detail is just so super-cute and girly, while not being overtly so. They're a really easy pair to just slip on and go. It's like wearing slippers or chappals, only much more stylish.
Bags:
I'm not going to bore you with any more tales about my bag of the summer. I will only say that I love, love, LOVE it. It's everything I wanted in a bag, and at a great price.
As you can see from the pic, it's nearly three thousand rupees. Which I feel is worth the money, cos it's well made, and looks expensive. Yet it's not so pricey that you feel that you need to make it last longer than one season.
I purchased this Charles & Keith bag in February, and it's much more of an investment piece. It's not a designer bag, of course. But I do expect to get at least a year's worth of wear from it. It's a classic style, and in a neutral colour that will go with pretty much anything in my wardrobe.
It's not too large, but it fits everything that I need and more. I like that it has a cross body strap as well, cos I find that very practical. This was more expensive. I got it on sale for Rs 6000, but it was originally Rs 10,000. However, I do feel that as in investment piece that you'll wear for at least a year, it's worth it.
Jewellery:
I don't usually buy a lot of jewellery in the summer. I can't wear necklaces in the heat - my skin just gets irritated - and things like earrings and bracelets, I already have a lot of.
I did, however, buy this initial necklace from H&M, simply because it reminded me of the Missoma ones. Btw, for anyone who's on the lookout for dupes of the current Missoma collection, H&M and Mango have great versions of the roman coin necklace and the compass one. It wasn't expensive at all. It only costs Rs 399 - or was it Rs 299?? Not sure. But I don't really know how much I'll be using it. I think it's most likely to stay in my wardrobe till the monsoon.
On Thursday I'll run you through the blouses and tees that I've bought so far.
Till next time,
MumbaiGirl
