For the Price of a Jersey (Part Three)

For a quick round up of the last two posts, I decided to see what one could purchase - by the way of outfits - for the price equivalent of a footie jersey. The price of the jersey is Rs 4999, and I hopped through the Mango, H&M and Zara websites doing just that. Today I wind up this series with the final Zara outfit.

I started with this pair of polka dot shorts as a base. Firstly because shorts are a good staple in the monsoon. Legs can always be washed free of mud; stains on clothing very often remain. Also since these aren't denim, they're a good length. I don't know what it is with Zara, but while their denim shorts usually barely cover your behind, most of the normal fabric ones are a decent - sometimes even longish - length. And, of course, polka dots are a classic print. They never go out of style. They may not always be in, but they're never out! These shorts cost Rs 1790.

I chose these gold sandals, as I'm a big believer in wearing flats when you're showing a lot of leg. Mind you, I have done the mini and high heels bit in my past. But when I look back now, I feel it looks a tad trashy. My rule of thumb is: unless it's a formal event, skip the heels when opting for showing off your legs. These sandals are Rs 1990. (I still wish they had done a new version of my fave pearl slides. But, oh well, these will have to do.)

If you're one for the trends, or mustard yellow is your colour, this tank top will work well with the shorts. The navy-blue and mustard combo just screams 'on trend' and the gold flats will be perfect. This top is Rs 1190, making the outfit total Rs 4970.

An alternative is this cut-out top. I'd actually choose the white version, but since you can't see the cut out details as well there, I thought I'd show you the black one. This is again, very on-trend and will work very well (the white version, I mean) with the gold sandals. This top is a little more expensive and costs Rs 1490. It takes the total slightly over budget at Rs 5270.

And that wraps up this series. About time too, I know, since it's sale season! I have been hitting the stores and making some sneaky purchases. Expect more on that in my next blog post.

Till next time,
