Changing Room Tales - Lifestyle Stores (Part Two)

And on to Part Two.

Let's begin where we left off...
While I spoke about the top, I didn't get to the bottom of things. The skirt is actually a dress - and a cute one at that. (I just picked up a size far too large for me. Which is why I'm wearing it with the tee.) It's only Rs 799, which is also amazing. Yes, the material does feel flimsy - but honestly, it doesn't feel too cheap. It's not very thin either. If you pick this up, I'd advise you to get it hemmed, as the bottom is unfinished. And although raw hems might be in fashion, unless you have great fabric, I'd veer on the side of safe.

I'm all about a good pair of leggings during the monsoon. However, I didn't quite fancy these Adidas ones. It's a shame, as all my gym leggings do come from Adidas. These were far too thin for me though. VPL was a real issue, and I was wearing seamless knickers! If you tend to wear you leggings with long tees and tops, this could be for you. If not, look for ones made with better fabric.

These cropped tracks from the Only section really caught my fancy. They're expensive for Lifestyle Rs 2499, but if you're used to Only prices, you won't bat an eyelid. The material was great, and I loved the side mesh panel.
My only (and was that a pun there?) issue was that the mesh didn't feel so comfortable after a couple of minutes. I do still want it. I'll get an insane amount of use out of them in the monsoon. But Rs 2000 plus for something I'm not super comfy in? I'm not so sure. Let me know what you guys think.

From the Ginger range, I tried on these adorable trousers - once again in a size too large. I was swimming in them! They are exactly what you need during the monsoon, if you're given to pattern and colour. They are thin, (not too thin though) so that means a quick dry if they get wet. The pattern and the colour means that they won't show dirt and muck easily. And the crop just works perfectly for those days when you have to wade through puddles. Now if I can just find them in my size!

I also tried on these trousers from their Code section. But let's face facts, these are a case of buy them and keep them for after the rains. There's no way these would make it out of a rainy day intact. The colour will show up every little mud splash, and the drape-y-ness means that they're gonna drag through water and the suchlike. If you've got a vacation planned to some European country or to the US in the next few months, pick them up. If not, buy them at your own peril.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I had a skirt like this from Forever 21. That skirt and I have long since parted ways. But I still have fond memories about it. Which is why I made a beeline for this one when I saw it. It was on a rack near the store entrance, and that's why I walked in. It's a beautiful skirt. The cut is good, the material excellent; the colour is a different story. White is just not a colour I can justify in the monsoon. Yes, I barely step out of my house when it's raining. Yes, I am usually wrapped up in my Zara trench (plus umbrella, plus wellies). Yes, I usually go every-fricking-where by car. But I still can't think of white. And if you're smart, neither will you. Should you love it too much to be parted, keep it for post-monsoons. It will be a lovely piece for the October heat.

The last thing I tried on was this lovely lace-type long-line jacket from Code. I had a similar piece from Vero Moda three seasons ago, and wore it to the absolute death. It was literally fraying to pieces when I finally agreed that it must go. I've been looking to replace it ever since. This one fitted the bill perfectly - but they didn't have it in my size!!! Why?? WHY???? But I want it, and am determined to get it. I shall scour every Lifestyle store I can find, until it is mine! Don't be surprised if you see me popping up in your local one.

Till next time,

MumbaiGirl.
